MORE THAN ENOUGH
July 29th | Pastor Gino
Sometimes, when we are not walking closely with the Lord, we feel like there is no way back to Him. We get off the path for various reasons and to different degrees. Whether it’s through neglect, sin, or the distractions of life, we’re all susceptible to drift from time to time. Yet, despite these things, God’s grace remains steadfast, even drawing us back to Him with the assurance that Christ is always more than enough. The voice of condemnation will make us think that we’ve gone too far, but the whisper of grace is, “My love is deeper still.” Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more (Romans 5:18). Not that we would continue in sin, but that we would be reminded that the work of Christ is sufficient to cover a multitude of sins and free us to a life of holiness, peace, and joy.
It has been said that, “Our weakness is not a barrier to God’s work, but the stage on which His strength is most clearly displayed.” If the weight of life has burdened you, if the sting of sin has wounded you, if guilt or disappointment has brought you low, lift your eyes and look to the One who never grows weary, who never tires of your pleas, and who is faithful to the end because He cannot deny Himself (2 Tim 2:13). Calvin writes, “There is no reason to fear the want of any thing, provided we draw from the fulness of Christ, which is in every respect so complete, that we shall experience it to be a truly inexhaustible fountain.”(1) And the more we draw from it the more fully it will flow.
So, if you’re feeling far from God, take a moment, even now, to remember the good news that God does not require us to climb back into His favor. Christ has already secured it. Remember that His grace isn’t a limited resource; it is overflowing, abundant, and sufficient even for those who have wandered as He invites us to return, not with fear, but with faith—because He is more than enough.
2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
